Today the Swedish Air Force main fighter is the Saab JAS 39 Gripen, in the C/D versions.
The number of aircraft Sweden can deploy for combat remains a secret. An educated guess would place it at approximately 1,000 to 1,200, thus making the Swedish Air Force one of the strongest on earth.
The Swedish Navy has a total of 387 ships, including 4 submarines (3 Gotland, 1 Södermanland), 7 corvettes (5 Visby, 2 Gävle), 9 minesweepers (5 Koster, 4 Styrsö), 13 larger patrol boats (2 Stockholm and 11 Tapper) and 9 specialised ships with different support duties.
For a country with a submarine fleet numbering a grand total of five, Sweden is surprisingly innovative when it comes to underwater warfare and has a reputation for producing highly advanced submarine designs on a regular basis.
In November 2021, Sweden received the US-made Patriot PAC-3 missile defense system, bringing their total arsenal to consist of two types of missiles, three different launchers, a command post, combined reconnaissance, and a fire control radar.

The choice fell with the new fighter. All the plans for a Swedish nuclear weapon were scrapped by 1968, when Sweden signed the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty. In 1972, the last remnants of a plan for nuclear weapons was discontinued when the FOA stopped their experiments with plutonium.

In order to be granted a weapon licence you are required to be at least 18 years of age. There are some exceptions. You also need to be law-abiding and well-behaved, and must be able to certify the purpose of your need to possess a weapon. The most common purposes are hunting and target shooting.
And this is not surprising because Sweden is actually one of the most powerful gunsmiths in Europe. This is due to the fact that since the beginning of the Cold War, the country independently solved security issues and actually independently armed itself, creating extremely interesting models.

But there is one caveat: Under Finland's current national legislation nuclear weapons are illegal. By joining NATO, Finland will be allied with countries that have nuclear arsenals—and are prepared to use them if deemed necessary.

How big is Scotland's army?

Foreign policy. Since a short war against Norway in 1814 in conjunction with the creation of the union, Sweden has not been involved in any war. Since World War I, Sweden has pursued a policy of non-alignment in peacetime and neutrality in wartime, basing its security on a strong national defense.
Brandenburg and Russia, together with such older states as Denmark and Poland, were natural enemies of Sweden.
The Russian coastal fleet, led by Karl Heinrich von Nassau-Siegen started its attack against the Swedes on 9 July 1790, in what became known as the second Battle of Svensksund, which ended in a decisive Swedish victory.
